Sept. 28th TDWCC Dinner: Voting Democratic to Fix Our Future

There is a long list of reasons why we will go to the polls in November and vote Democratic. We will elect Democrats to fix our economy, save our planet, bring our troops home, fix our healthcare system, increase education funding, etc. The list of reasons for voting Democratic is extensive, but it all comes down to one thing. After the last eight years, we need Democrats to fix our future!

The Texas Democratic Women of Collin County (TDWCC) 2nd annual dinner on September 28th at 6:30 p.m. at Southfork Ranch will focus on the many reasons to elect Democrats and in the process raise the funds necessary to get the job done.

We hope you will consider supporting TDWCC, an organization that has combined past donations with hard work to make change. TDWCC has established a Get Out The Vote office and their volunteers have already made calls to more than 14,000 voters, they have given contributions totaling $6,000 to their endorsed candidates, and they have purchased 1,000 Obama yard signs to distribute in Collin County. This is just the beginning of the TDWCC ambitious GOTV plan. Donations to the 2nd annual dinner will allow the group to do so much more!

To RSVP or to read details, such as information on the outstanding keynote speaker Mary Beth Rogers, unique and valuable silent auction items, artistic gifts for higher level contributions, and Voting Democratic video project, visit http://www.tdwcc.org/2ndAnnualDinner.html.

TDWCC 2008 GOTV Launched

Texas Democratic Women has launched an aggressive plan to Get Out the Democratic Vote in Collin County this year.

As of February 2nd, TDWCC has obtained office space in Plano and has established a full calendar of Get Out the Vote activities through the March 4th Texas primary. Their newly-revamped web site includes a complete listing of GOTV events and the ability for volunteers to sign up online.

Activities include voter registration, block walking, and TDWCC’s new “A Call a Day” program, which allows volunteers to help identify Democratic voters by making calls each month from home.

While these activities are sponsored by TDWCC, they want you to know that they welcome and need the support of men, non-members, and people from other counties. Although TDWCC is primarily a women’s group, they note that the majority of their 2007 events were attended by a diverse group of people and it is expected that the same will be true in 2008, particularly given the importance of the upcoming primary and the general election in November.

You can get involved by visiting the Get Out the Vote page on the TDWCC web site at www.tdwcc.org. Volunteer opportunities are available now and you may register online to be part of the “Call a Day Club.” You may also contact TDWCC’s GOTV Co-chairs, Meredith Fisherman and Kelley Van Auken at gotv@tdwcc.org or by phone at 888-TDW-CC08.

TDWCC also notes that the Democratic Party of Collin County is in need of individuals willing to help worth the polls on March 4th. Pay is $7/hour. Anyone interested may contact the DPCC office at 972-578-1483 or by email at ccdpoffice@yahoo.com.
